It’s possible to treat unwanted hair in nearly any area, except the eyelid and surrounding area
Laser Hair Removal doesn’t guarantee permanent hair removal.
The most common side effects of Laser Hair Removal include:
-
Skin Irritation – Temporary discomfort, redness, and swelling are possible. Any signs or symptoms typically disappear within several hours.
-
Pigment Changes – Laser Hair Removal might darken or lighten the affected skin, usually temporarily. Skin lightening primarily affects those who have darker skin.
-
Before Laser Hair Removal, schedule a consultation and assessment for treatment with D’avoir’s nurse.
-
Review your medical history, including medication use.
-
Discuss risks, benefits and expectations, including what Laser Hair Removal can and can’t do for you.
-
Stay out of the sun. A tan increases the risk of side effects, such as skin lightening. If you have a tan, wait until the tan fades completely before undergoing the procedure.
-
Avoid plucking, waxing, or electrolysis. These hair removal methods can disturb the hair follicle and interfere with the procedure.
-
Shaving is OK since it preserves the hair shaft and follicle. In fact, shaving is recommended so that the laser doesn’t target hair above the skin, potentially causing burns.
Before laser hair removal, the hair in the treatment area might be trimmed with a pair of scissors. You’ll also be given special goggles to protect your eyes from the laser beam. Application of a topical anesthetic to your skin to reduce any discomfort during treatment.
A hand-held laser instrument will be pressed to your skin. Depending on the type of laser, a cooling device on the tip of the instrument or a cool gel might be used to protect your skin.
When the laser is activated, the laser beam will pass through your skin to the tiny sacs (follicles) where hair growth originates. The intense heat from the laser beam damages the hair follicles, which inhibits hair growth. Some discomfort in the skin is possible, and you’ll likely feel a sensation of cold from the cooling device or gel.
Treatment times will vary depending on the size of the area and how many areas we are treating that day.
Because there is no down time with Laser Hair Removal, you can easily get your treatment on your lunch break and return to work immediately.
You might notice redness and swelling for the first few hours after laser hair removal.
To reduce any discomfort, apply ice to the treated area. If you have a skin reaction immediately after laser hair removal, contact D’avoir for further instructions.
After laser hair removal, avoid sun exposure — both natural sunlight and tanning beds. When your skin has healed, use sunscreen whenever you’re in the sun.
You may experience possible hair shedding in the first few days and weeks after the treatment.
Results of laser hair removal vary greatly from person to person, and might depend on what area of the body or face is treated.
Multiple treatments can prolong the duration of hair loss — up to years in some cases — but hair regrowth is still possible.
The average number of treatments needed to achieve 70-90% permanent hair removal is about 8-12. This number varies from person to person and among body parts.
Hair follicles transition through active and dormant stages and only about 30-50% of your hair is actively growing at any given time. Whith each treatment, we will cover the entire skin surface, but only those follicles that are “active” will be impacted. When a follicle is dormant, the laser light cannot be absorbed, and the follicle is left undamaged. We customize your treatment plan to ensure that we are matching your hair growth cycles and ensuring the best results possible for you.
Yes. Laser Hair Removal is the #1 non-invasive cosmetic procedure performed each year, with the lowest risk of adverse reaction.
The average person can expect 70-90% permanent reduction from Laser Hair Removal treatments. This varies from person to person and between body areas.
